An Introduction to Screencasting

The Centre for Staff and Educational Development (CSED) run a series of sessions to introduce new learning technologies each semester. The sessions for the autumn semester, called Light Bytes,  came to an end yesterday with An Introduction to Screencasting.

Screencasting is essentially recording, often with audio commentary, what happens on your computer screen. Examples can be found here and here.

Leading screencasting software includes Camtasia Studio and an earlier version of this software is currently being offered for free by Techsmith (please read the license agreement and consult your school’s IT Support person before using at UEA).

Other leading screencasting software includes Adobe Captivate and is available in the Learning and Resources Centre (LaRC) for use by staff and research postgraduates.
